The Valley of Flowers is open from June to October, with peak bloom season being mid-July to mid-August. The best time is July-September when the flowers are in full bloom and the weather is pleasant for trekking.
The trek is considered moderate in difficulty. The trail to Ghangaria is well-defined but involves steady ascent. The trek to Hemkund Sahib is more challenging due to steep elevation gain. Good physical fitness is recommended.
Essential items include: waterproof trekking shoes, raincoat/poncho, warm layers, trekking pants, sun protection (hat, sunglasses, sunscreen), water bottle, personal medications, toiletries, torch, and camera. Pack light but be prepared for changing weather.
While there's no strict age limit, participants should be physically fit. The trek is suitable for ages 12-65 years for those in good health. Those with heart conditions or severe altitude sickness history should consult a doctor before booking.
Mobile network is available in Govindghat but becomes patchy as you ascend. BSNL and Airtel may work intermittently in Ghangaria. There's no network in Valley of Flowers or Hemkund Sahib. It's best to inform family about limited connectivity.
