Called 'Himachal's Best Kept Secret', Tirthan Valley is enclosed by the Great Himalayan National Park with flowing rivers, lush green valleys and lakes. It draws its name from Tirthan River, which originates from the glaciers of Himalayas. This is an area of exceptional beauty and mountain scenery, unspoiled villages and nature, great walks and inviting guesthouses. It's the gateway to the spectacular, World Heritage-listed Great Himalayan National Park, 754 pristine square kilometres of steep-sided river valleys and mountains reaching right up to the 6000m-plus peaks of the Great Himalayan Range.

Jalori Pass, Serolsar Lake and Choie Waterfall treks
The best time to visit Tirthan Valley is from March to June and September to November when the weather is pleasant for trekking and sightseeing. Winters (December-February) offer beautiful snow views but some treks may be difficult. Monsoon season (July-August) brings lush greenery but occasional landslides.
The Choie Waterfall trek is easy to moderate (2-3 hours round trip). The Serolsar Lake trek via Jalori Pass is moderate (4-5 hours total) with some steep sections. The 360° viewpoint trek is relatively short but at high altitude. All treks are suitable for beginners with average fitness levels.
Pack comfortable trekking shoes, warm layers (even in summer), rain jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses, water bottle, personal medications, and a small backpack for day treks. Don't forget your camera to capture the stunning landscapes! If visiting in winter, bring heavy woolens as temperatures can drop below freezing.
Mobile network is limited in Tirthan Valley. BSNL and Jio have the best coverage, while other networks may not work in many areas. WiFi is available at most hotels but can be slow. This is the perfect opportunity to disconnect and enjoy nature!
Absolutely! Many travelers choose to extend their stay to explore more of the valley. Popular extensions include visiting the Great Himalayan National Park (permits required), exploring the nearby Jibhi village, or adding a trip to Banjar and Shoja. Contact us to customize your itinerary.
