The best time for this trip is from March to June and September to November when the weather is pleasant. Winters (December-February) can be quite cold, especially in Jibhi, while monsoon season (July-August) may have landslides and slippery trekking trails.
The 4km trek is of moderate difficulty with some steep sections. It takes about 2-3 hours to reach the lake. The trail passes through beautiful forests and offers stunning views, making the effort worthwhile. A basic level of fitness is recommended.
Pack comfortable trekking shoes, warm layers (even in summer), rain jacket, sunscreen, sunglasses, water bottle, personal medications, and power bank. For winters, carry heavy woolens as temperatures can drop significantly, especially in Jibhi.
ATMs are available in Kasol but limited in Jibhi and Tirthan Valley. It's advisable to carry sufficient cash from Delhi/Chandigarh as card payment options may be limited in remote areas.
