Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best time to do the Spiti Valley Circuit?

The best time for Spiti Valley is from May to October when the roads are clear of snow. June to September offers pleasant weather with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 20°C during the day. Winters (November to April) are extremely cold with temperatures dropping to -20°C and many routes closed due to snow.

Is this trip suitable for first-time mountain travelers?

While no prior mountain experience is required, the Spiti Circuit involves long drives on challenging roads and high altitudes. Participants should be prepared for basic accommodations, limited facilities in remote areas, and be comfortable with adventure travel. Those with severe altitude sickness history should consult a doctor.

What kind of accommodation can we expect?

Accommodation ranges from basic hotels in Sangla, Nako and Kaza to tents at Chandratal. All accommodations are clean and comfortable but may have limited amenities due to the remote locations. Rooms are generally on twin/triple sharing basis with attached bathrooms (except Chandratal which has common toilets).

How do we manage altitude sickness?

The itinerary is designed for gradual acclimatization. We recommend staying hydrated, avoiding alcohol, and informing guides of any symptoms. Carry prescribed altitude medication if prone to sickness. Most people adjust well, but in rare cases, descent may be necessary for safety.

What should I pack for this trip?

Essentials include: warm layers (temperatures vary greatly), comfortable trekking shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, medications, power bank (limited electricity), toiletries, water bottle, and camera. A detailed packing list will be provided upon booking.
